Gingerbread Geometry in 5th Grade

On Thursday, Mr. O'Sullivan's and Mrs. DeLuca's math classes celebrated the end of first semester with a gingerbread geometry build. Each fifth grader constructed their own original gingerbread house using mathematical logic and innovative design! 

After building, they measured to find the area and volume of their structures. Everyone did a fantastic job - please enjoy the pictures below as proof!

8 th Grade worked with the Impact Center to better understand poverty in Philadelphia specifically and national poverty generally.

Mrs. Zwilling’s Math group present their projects on Mathmaticians who aren’t White Dudes. 

Christmas is slowly but surely taking over everything HCA. 

6th grade homeroom

The 7th and 8th grade DRIP group has created a logo, taken over a bulletin board, taken direct action, written a mission statement, aligned that mission with the 7 Holy Child goals, and is currently planning outreach to the younger students. 

When we celebrated all religions month at HCA, the middle school heard from 7different  speakers representing 6different faiths. The beauty of this special community time does not come through in the pictures. Speakers expressed their faith is such profound and raw ways discussing the joy as well as the challenges their faith journey has encompassed. The students witnessed peopl of various faiths express the importance of their faith in their lives. They also asked powerful questions showing just how engaged and moved they were.
